About Michala

Michala Liavaag - Headshot - White jacket

My name is Michala and I'm its founder and managing director. I work as a freelance Chief Information Security Officer (CISO), a cybersecurity advisor, and information governance and security consultant. I'm on a mission to demystify cybersecurity for business leaders, empowering them to protect their organisation and build lasting customer trust.

With a degree in classical music, I've had an eclectic career from founding a computer game store and managing three Internet cafes at Gatwick airport to taking on technical hands-on IT support, project management, and senior leadership roles. Having spent almost a decade leading information governance and cybersecurity programmes for complex medium and large not-for-profit organisations across the UK, I’m sought after by healthcare providers in the NHS and charity sector.

In addition, I’m regularly interviewed by the media and enjoy sharing my experience with others like this and as a speaker at events, podcasts, and webinars. I’m passionate about inspiring and nurturing the next generation of cybersecurity professionals and that’s why I lead visibly, volunteer as a mentor, and support schemes such as the National Cyber Security Centre’s #CyberFirst programme.

About Ana

Ana Garner

My name is Ana Garner and I’m the Learning and Development Consultant at Cybility. I have been working in education since 2009 and I have 10 years of experience as a University lecturer, including in online teaching. In 2020 I started working as a Senior Learning Designer, helping UK universities to create active and applied learning experiences for online and blended delivery.

With a degree in Communications, I started my career as a videomaker and a media educator. I have a PhD in Creative Media and two Masters degrees: one in Communication and Education, and the other in Technological Education.

I have also volunteered for many years in social projects in my native Brazil. I was part of the board of the Shade and Fresh Water Project and in charge, among other things, of training the volunteers, producing educational materials, including some about online safety.

I am passionate about making a difference through the transformative power of education and about helping to make the digital world safer for all. As a board gamer myself, I am particularly happy to use gamification to make cybersecurity more fun, accessible and widespread.
